Community involvement

Pi Sigma Epsilon participates in a wide variety of community service activities each semester, ranging from highway trash pickup to Relay for Life.

Cancer is something that has touched everyone in our organization. With the cause hitting so close to home, Relay for Life is an event we take extensive pride in fundraising for and supporting. Efforts to raise money started early in January with a goal of reaching $10,000. By contacting our friends and family, posting on social media, and donating portions of profit from our perspective members' marketing project and our 5th Annual Golf Outing we were able to surpass our goal and raise $10,356. This is the first time in our chapter's history that we met the goal we have had our eyes on for many years. We are thankful to be able to participate in this event and work towards the fight against cancer.

Relay is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path. Each event is 6-24 hours in length and each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Cancer patients don't stop because they're tired, and for one night, neither do we.

Each team sets up a themed campsite at the event and continues their fundraising efforts by collecting donations for food, goods, games, and activities. This money will count towards their overall team fundraising goal.

Adopt a highway

Across the country, thousands of communities have signaled their commitment to keeping America beautiful by adopting stretches of highway and pledging to keep them litter-free. Adopters are asked to commit to picking up litter along the section of state highway, which is usually two miles long, at least four times a year for two years.

As an organization, we come together to clean our adopted section of highway six times each semester. We enjoy doing our part to keep Harrisonburg and its highways beautiful!
